DAYS 1-3 | Delhi
Highlights: Explore Old Delhi by rickshaw; Humayun’s tomb; Gandhi's eternal flame and India Gate
The journey starts in Delhi, capital of India and so emblematic of the whole country. Upon arrival, you’ll be swiftly (depending on the Delhi traffic!) taken to The Imperial, where you will settle into sumptuous surroundings liberally scattered with fine paintings, antique furniture and colonial memorabilia. Your driver and guide will always be on hand to show you the city’s magnificent sites. You’ll explore bustling Old Delhi, a melting pot of culture and commerce. Daily life is forever in full swing, with the the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, one of the city’s oldest and most vibrant markets, thronging with people, spices and textiles. A stone’s throw away is the beautiful Jama Masjid mosque and just on the edge of Old Delhi is the Red Fort.

DAYS 3-5 | Agra
Highlights: Taj Mahal at sunrise; Agra Fort
An early start means that you’ll get a very real perspective on how this enormous country operates. You’ll be chauffeured to the train station to catch the express to Agra (first class of course!). The station is alive with activity as commuters pack the carriages and the platforms. On arrival in Agra, you’ll be taken to the Oberoi Amarvilas, complete with sunken stepwell swimming pool, and direct views of the Taj Mahal. Your Yonder guide will be on call so whenever you are ready to venture out of the serenity of the Oberoi, he will be waiting to show you the immense Red Fort, the Taj Mahal – the ultimate symbol of love and devotion, with its perfect symmetry – and the ancient red sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri.

DAYS 5-6 | Ranthambore
Highlights: Private tiger safari; Expert naturalists; Visit to a Women's Cooperative
Ranthambore is unlike any place you’ve been before. A national park with dense scrub, ancient jungles, vast lakes and the crumbling ruins of a spectacular old hill top fort. It’s brimming with flora and fauna. As you roll through the gates for your four game drives in your specially adapted ‘gypsy’ (local speak for safari vehicle), you’ll quickly appreciate the immense beauty of the park. Eyeing the auburn scrub interspersed with vivid green alleyways along the riverbeds and inky blue lake waters, it becomes apparent why this land is the perfect hunting ground for the 66 tigers that call it home. Your home will be no less exciting; Sher Bagh, one of our favourite tented camps, is magnificent. Your every whim will be cared for and you’ll revel in an exquisite masterclass in hospitality.

DAYS 8-11 | Jaipur
Highlights: Amber Fort; Walking tour of the Pink City; Palace of the Winds, Jantar Mantar and City Palace
Somehow the excitement of arriving in legendary Jaipur means the beautiful Rajasthani countryside will whistle past in the blink of an eye. The Pink City, as its also known, has come to symbolise so much of Rajasthan. It is a beautiful concoction of colour, smell and texture, with a distinguished history of royalty cultivating the arts and science. And in keeping with such an illustrious history, it is only fit that Yonderers stay at the magnificent Rambagh Palace, former home to Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II.

DAYS 11-13 | Jodhpur
Highlights: Walking tour of the Blue City; Mehrangarh Fort and Jaswant thada
Thankfully largely overlooked by mainstream travellers, Jodhpur is a beautifully preserved artefact that is richly rewarding to those who make the journey. The Blue City never fails to impress. Its bite-sized old centre, easily navigable on foot, is a maze of old streets and open squares whilst the Mehrangarh Fort, perched high on a rock above the old town, is, for us, the shining light of Rajasthani palaces, wonderfully curated and beautifully maintained. And sticking with the theme of living like royalty, Umaid Bhawan, the second largest private residence in the world, is the ultimate place to lay your head after the excitement of discovering such an incredible city.

DAYS 13-15 | Udaipur

Udaipur is the city of romance. We feel the love on every visit. The five beautiful lakes, the City Palace and the old city with its labyrinthine street network, all combine to sculpt a place of immense beauty. It is an experience like no other, with a positive energy and warmth that make it one of India’s most visited destinations. And as we all have a James Bond wannabe inside us, the Lake Palace, picture perfect in the middle of Lake Pichola, is our choice of digs. From here, it’s easy to set out across the lake to the gates of the City Palace as well as Jag Mandir. At the end of your sensational tour, you’ll head to Udaipur airport for the short flight back to Delhi. On arrival at the domestic terminal, you’ll be met by a Yonder representative and seamlessly delivered to your international terminal and connecting flight to the UK.
