PRICE: Punchy but doesn’t blow the budget
Set within 30 acres of coconut groves, lily ponds and fruit trees, Marari Beach Resort is a fusion of gentle, fisherfolk-inspired wellbeing and the seaside environment in which it effortlessly sits.
The village of Mararikulam is a sleepy, 100 year-old fishing community, and the resort is inspired by this gentle way of life. The thatched cottages are in keeping with the local style and surrounded by tall trees, meandering streams and the sights and sounds of a whole host of tropical birds and plants.
And the peaceful, natural seaside environment is replicated inside the rooms, with floral art adding a touch of colour to light, tasteful furnishings and bathrooms that have been designed to mimic nature and allow you to bathe under the rustling leaves and clear skies.
As with all CGH Earth properties, ethical practises run through everything here. The face towels are made locally using traditional cotton cloth and the gorgeous shower and bath amenities are kept in pretty reusable earthenware called ‘Bharani’.
Of course, the dining experience is bursting with seaside treats. Here, you pick your choice of fruits of the sea, delicately flavoured with spices and coconut, and choose from a range of dining areas, from the intimate Palm Bar to the contemporary styled Club House. Our favourite was the freshly caught Marari squid with Masala, which we enjoyed under the stars in the Beach Grill.
