Sala Phuket is conceptually perfect, with the stunning open seascape of Mai Khao beach set against the angular architecture of the villas and suites, where open-air bathrooms, private pools and tropical gardens are little slices of heaven. It’s luxe and contemporary but without the stuffiness or pomposity of some of its larger, better-known competitors.
This is a boutique bolthole that draws a sophisticated crowd. You’ll see a great array of floaty linen kaftans, wide-brimmed straw hats and this season’s Vilbrequeins amongst its epicurean clientele. All lust after the laid-back vibes, exquisite food (included within Tatler’s Thailand’s Best Restaurants for four years in a row) and dreamy list of facilities. With two pools, a sensational spa and expert yoga teachers, there is no need to ever leave.
The service throughout is flawless. You’ll encounter ever smiling staff, eager to please. Whether you are sitting under one of the red parasols dotted around the gardens, slumped in a tub char on the deck or generally being a landlubber resisting the urge to submerge they will be on hand to respond to your every whim.
