You’ll jump on a flight and head to Chiang Rai in the far north of the country. Here, on the border with Burma and Laos, you’ll settle into the Anantara Elephant Camp in the heart of the mysterious Golden Triangle. Aside from pampering the pachyderms and interacting with them during their daily routines, you’ll enjoy venturing out by boat onto the mighty Mekong river to explore the small tributaries, canals and waterways that are the hallmarks of this border area.

You jet southwards again towards Surat Thani, where you’ll jump in a car and be driven to the little known Khao Sok national park.
